Do not prejudice the hooded silhouettes.

Solidarity is masked because it is being criminalised.

Concept

The design was originally conceived as a sail, to be used by Resisting Anti-Trespass. It draws the link between the pirate nature of squatters and solidarity makers.

They are represented as dark silhouettes on a colourful background, with their faces partially or fully covered.

Both flag and symbol of a ship's guidance, the sail depicts the intimacy of blackbloc, and of the creative trespassers, both maligned in the way pirates historically came to be for resisting authority.

Inspiration

The characters depicted were directly inspired by my experiences of mutual aid and tenderness from people that sought shelter and then opened their doors.

The trespasser is at once someone with needs and their own precarities; but also someone who recognises this need in others: someone who provides access to shelter and a liberatory environment.

The wolf and the deer were painted to show that the trespassers' care and compassion extend towards the unknown and oft rejected. Giving them equal space and attention within the piece as the rest of the characters should serve as a reminder that you do not need to domesticate or reject the wild, to preserve your personal comfort, intimacy, or autonomy.

The animals held in the arms of the characters are inspired by the work of @unoffensiveanimal, who documents animal liberations.

Support direct action, trespass and mutual aid.

Hop hop everybody in the boat

Very naturally everybody started hanging out in the Solidarity Ship, kids playing, lovers making out, and friends hanging out, the full days and nights the place was opened.
